And navigate he did, dodging social errors with the same fright and determination one might actually dodge mines.

I relate so much to this - I couldn t say it better. It s so tough to balance the need to adapt to the speed of a conversation and the one to think and be careful to avoid saying something socially inappropriate. And to remember to give the word to other people and to ask questions, and, and,. so many things. So exhausting.

I did not know anyone else feels this way. My anxiety gets so bad I sometimes cannot talk at all. My wife gets furious with me because sometimes I am the life of the party and sometimes I literally cannot speak. I never really understand why my ability varies so dramatically. I do not know when I will be able to perform and when I will not. I wish I could be the same person all the time so I could just know who I am going to be at the next event.

Thank you for posting, please write a book.

I am similar to you, an Aspie at 41 and have always been single. I can say that anti-depressants like Welbutrin have taken the edge off of the anxiety somewhat. What I want to find is an Adult Asperger support group in my area, so I can work on social skills with like minded people. Maybe one would be good for you as well, if there is one in your area.

You think it would be really fun to have sex with me. Because, I think you can tell from my posts, I ll do anything. But maybe you can also tell from my posts that it s a little bit weird. Because you know that I ll say anything, too, but sometimes, I make you cringe.

This post is about work. And sex, which are two of the essential areas of life one needs to be able to function in before you can feel like a normal adult. And both sex and work are governed by a set of rules that many people are able to learn just by being in the world.

Asperger Syndrome compromises one s ability to read nonverbal social cues. A simple example of this deficit is answering the question, “How are you?” It is loaded with so many nonverbal issues that I simply freeze. Even if you tell me, “Just say fine,” sometimes the situation looks special to me, and I can t figure out why it s special, so I can t talk.

An aspie who had been researching dating for years once recommended the book "The system" by Roy Valentine above all other books, so i bought it and he was right, it s a great book. It gives advice on how to hit on girls at a bar, which would suck for an aspie, but if you ignore those advices, the book is full of explanations about why girls do the things they do and what is expected of males, that s what makes it a must-read. Many of the things it says, i have verified in my life. I m saying this because you said you wanted insight, but it won t help you much in practice, you are an aspie, you want to be alone, that is the bottom line.

This adaptive online test for Aspergers has been designed as per the guidelines set by the Autism Research Institute. Though this quiz can perform an accurate preliminary screening of Asperger's in toddlers, children and adults, it should NEVER be considered as a conclusive diagnosis. For a formal Aspie screening, please consult your local health practitioner.

Communication skills form a very important part of the Asperger’s Assessment. This section will evaluate your communication level in social settings.

Just like IQ measures your intelligence levels, EQ (or empathy quotient) is a measurement of your emotional feelings/responses to a set of life events. People with Asperger’s tend to feel very strongly about certain aspects, while may not care much about some other events that deeply impacts most people.
