Because of the growing number of women who realize their miscarriages were misdiagnosed , I like to get any information out there that may help women in determining whether they are going to miscarry or are misdiagnosed.

If you have had IVF and are being told that your gestational sac or baby looks one to two weeks behind in development during the first trimester, this one is for you.

Keep in mind, miscarriage is unfortunately all too common. Reading this study will not magically change the course your pregnancy will take. It will however give you information that may save your pregnancy if you are misdiagnosed.

It is impossible to know if you have a blighted ovum unless you have an ultrasound scan. There are a few blighted ovum symptoms that occur sometimes though.

Again, please make sure you seek your own professional medical advice on your pregnancy. I repeat, the information below has NOT been fact checked.*

My name is Neo Brown, I am 37, I live in the UK, I am married to an Analyst, and I am a mother of four. I am a musician and I am also studying for a maths degree.

I found school extremely boring, although I did quite well somehow. The teachers could never figure this out so they sent me for testing. I was found to have a very high IQ and was diagnosed as “gifted”(which basically means your idea of bliss is reading textbooks and studying piano sheet music), so my college teachers pushed me into going to medical school and I was tempted. I bought first-year medical textbooks instead of the makeup and teenage clothes my friends were into and actually taught myself quite a lot from almost constant medical and scientific reading.

When you have a blighted ovum you may still get traditional pregnancy symptoms or you may have few signs of pregnancy. Many women have all the traditional pregnancy symptoms like nausea and sore breasts, plus the bloating.

The truth is that it is very difficult, if not impossible, to tell if you have a blighted ovum just by your symptoms and really the only way to know for sure is by having the ultrasound scan done so that they can look at your uterus and determine if there is an embryo present or not or just the gestational sac.

Having said that, it is possible that if you have a blighted ovum you may experience symptoms of red-brown spotting (doesn’t have to be very heavy) and some cramping. However, a lot of pregnancies experience spotting and cramping and there is nothing wrong so this symptom alone should not lead you to believe that you have a blighted ovum.

You haven’t really lived until you’ve Googled “did my boyfriend’s penis poke my IUD into my intestine” while writhing in pain on the floor of his parents’ basement.

Turns out it was only (only?) a cervical bruise, but the subsequent ER visit and the quick glance at my Mirena, shiftless and foreign on the dark screen of the ultrasound, reminded me, for the first time in the two years since its implantation, what an odd thing it truly is, a tiny fish hook of hormones locked tight in my uterus.

I started taking the pill at 15, even though I wasn’t having sex (I SWEAR, MOM). I simply wanted some measure of control over my reproductive system. I’m incredibly grateful to the pill for 12 years of pregnancy-free sex. My experience was net positive, although I was knocked out cold at least once a cycle by menstrual migraines that, at their worst, caused me to slur my words and vomit. Neat! Eventually my doctor pulled me off the pill as a result of studies linking estrogen-based contraceptives to an elevated stroke risk in patients with migraines accompanied by aura. Also neat!

Hi all im new to this but i was wondering what symptoms of twins did every one have before scan. I am 10 weeks and i have a strong feeling im having twins. I have had really bad morning ( all day) sickness, i have felt movement and can feel the top of my womb. I already have 3 children but i did miscarry twins. I knew strait away with my 3 children what i was having but i am unsure with this pregnancy. My scan is on 24th april 2 weeks away cant wait to find out!!

I felt really sick - I had to get signed off from work for a fortnight in the first trimester and then again a bit later on - much worse than when I'd had my DD1. I also had a hard bump that switched sides - that I could feel much earlier than your supposed to.

I am so thankful to find this blog. I’m going out on a limb but is there anyway you could take a look at my ultrasound picture?? I swear it’s a vanishing twin but want someone who has seen it before to look. I know you’re not a professional 🙂 but a mom that can help another mom out. Thank you!! Please email me and I can send it. I appreciate your help.

I had a vaginal ultrasound and the told me I have one baby in 13 weeks while I excpect it is 8 weeks or less? I was shocked about the dating!!
Do you think that there is any chance that I am having twins but they missed one??
