Johannes Kepler was born in the town of Weil der Stadt, Germany, on 27 December 1571. Johannes was a very small boy who was frequently ill. At the age of three years he contracted smallpox and lingered close to death for several months. His childhood was also unsettled and unhappy. His father was a mercenary soldier who was away from home for long periods, sometimes years at a time.

When Johannes’ mother went away to be with her husband, Johannes was left with his grandfather. The separation from his parents was distressing for Johannes, but God blessed him during these years. His grandfather, a dedicated Christian, encouraged young Johannes as his faith grew. Although poor, Johannes’ grandfather appreciated the value of education and sent Johannes to school. The boy’s outstanding academic ability soon came to the attention of his teachers.

Heinrich was not interested in paying fees to send his son to school. Instead he saw Johannes as a cheap source of labour in the inn, so Heinrich made his son leave school. However, business at the inn later declined and Johannes’ help was not really needed. With his former teachers’ encouragement, Johannes successfully obtained a scholarship from the Duke of Württemberg to enable him to continue his schooling. Johannes’ drunken father reluctantly allowed him to return to school.

Bud crosses over twice into episodes of NCIS : the season 1 episode "Hung Out to Dry" and the season 14 episode "Rogue". In the latter, set 11 years after the finale of the JAG series, he is now a captain and still a JAG officer.

The last JAG in the series, he succeeded RADM A.J. Chegwidden upon his retirement in 2004. He was a very tough leader who also showed a low-key sense of humor and eventually won over the JAG officers.

When Harm becomes the foster dad to Mattie Grace, and needs a larger apartment for them to live in, he persuades Coates to move into the two-bedroom apartment next door so that Mattie can live there with her. (Coates had difficulties with her 4-5 female roommates; Harm inveigled Coates to be Mattie's roommate by paying Mattie's expenses – though his original offer was to pay all costs for both Coates and Mattie). Harm wanted Coates for Mattie's roommate as he felt that Mattie, being a teenager, would need a female role model.

Who: Isaac Newton
What: Father of Universal Gravitation
When: January 4, 1643 - March 31, 1727
Where: Woolsthorpe, a hamlet of Lincolnshire, England

Sir Isaac Newton, perhaps the most influential scientist of all time, came from very humble beginnings. The Julian calendar places his birthday on Christmas 1642, before which his father, John Newton, died at the age of 36. He was born premature and possibly had Asperger syndrome, a form of autism, which could explain his later ability to intensely focus on specific subject matters.

His mother remarried and sent him at age three to live with his maternal grandmother. At 12 he was sent to The King s School, an educational institution for boys in Grantham, Lincolnshire. Biographer N. W. Chittenden recounts that the young Newton was not a good student at first. However, after losing in a fight against the student ranked just above him, he applied himself to his studies until not only did he outrank his offender, but everyone else in his class.
